Show Your Work
Terms of service
Effective October 15, 2026
Show Your Work reads public records about data center proposals and lays them out in plain language. It is a research tool for community members, not a decision, a rating, or professional advice. These terms keep that working for everyone.
01What the app is
It collects what public records, utility filings and company statements say about a data center proposal, labels each item by who said it and when, and shows what couldn't be found.
It deliberately does not score projects, rank them, add numbers together, or tell you whether to support or oppose one. Where the records disagree, the app shows the disagreement instead of resolving it.
02What the app is not
Nothing here is legal, financial, tax, engineering, medical or investment advice, and it isn't a substitute for the source document or for a professional who knows your situation.
Published figures are quoted from sources that can be wrong. A claim being quoted accurately from a source doesn't make the claim true. Check the source before you rely on it.
03Missing information
A blank or a "not found" line means we didn't find that item in the records we searched. It doesn't mean the item doesn't exist, and it isn't a finding about the project. Use the open questions to ask the agency or company that would hold the answer.
04Your account
You can use the app without an account. If you sign in with Google, you're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think someone else has used it.
The workspace is for one person's own reading and questions. Don't share your sign-in.
05Your questions
Questions you save stay yours and are visible only to you. You can delete them at any time.
You can export them to your own Google Doc or copy them as text. What you do with your own copy — sending it to a council, posting it, printing it — is up to you.
06AI-generated parts
Some explanations and comparisons are generated by AI from the research already published for that project. They are labeled as AI-generated, they can be incomplete or wrong, and they are not a verdict on anything.
AI features use workspace credits, so a daily limit applies. If the limit is reached, the rest of the app keeps working.
07What we ask of you
- Don't use the app to harass, impersonate, or publish someone's personal information.
- Don't try to reach another person's account, questions, or uploads, or to break, scrape, or overload the service.
- Upload only documents you have the right to share, and don't upload someone else's bill or account details.
- Don't present Show Your Work's output as an official or verified record. Quote the underlying source instead.
08The research data
The underlying research and guides are ours to publish and can change as we find more records. You may read it, quote it with the source named, and use it in your own civic work. Please don't republish the corpus as a competing database or strip the source labels from what you quote.
09Availability and changes
The app is provided as it is, and may be interrupted, changed, or withdrawn. We don't promise a specific uptime.
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update the effective date above. Keeping the account after a change means you accept it.
10Closing an account
You can stop using the app at any time and ask us to delete your account and your records. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms — with notice where we reasonably can.
11Responsibility
To the extent the law allows, Show Your Work isn't liable for losses that come from relying on the app or on a quoted source. If you're not happy with the app, the remedy is to stop using it.
